So I’ve been rather slack in my blog updates lately - apologies for that, I have felt guilty and neglectful. This is probably why I shouldn’t be given blogs, pot plants or pets. I forget to feed things. That said, I’m back with an update.
Briefly, we’re well into production of the Summer 09/10 SunnyLIFE collection. The first products go into store in early August so, regardless of the fact we’re heading into winter, it’s a hive of activity at SunnyTown.
Last week we had our studio photo shoot to capture images of the new range for the web and promotion. Next week we’re shooting on location at the beach with our new SunnyLIFE girl. Do me a favour and channel some positive energy into good weather for Tuesday and Wednesday.
I’ve included a sneak-peek of our new towels… More sneak-peeks to follow.
SunnyLIFE was selected as accessory of choice for this year’s Cleo Eligible Bachelor photo shoot. As has been brought to our attention it appears that bachelor’s love SunnyLIFE. Looking through the images, the bachelors seem to enjoying the range! You can see more and choose your favourite bachelor at their dedicated website here.
Whilst we’re focusing on the famed Cleo competition – I feel it’s good opportunity for me to register my displeasure at being overlooked again. Every year that passes I keep working hard on my bachelorhood – yet the call doesn’t come. So, this year I’m really going to apply myself… 2010 is my year!
I realised that I haven’t updated the blog for a few weeks (which is bad according to the trend forecast session I attended last week). So here’s a quick update to appease my Blog Related Guilt (BRG).
Summer is officially ending this weekend which is always a melancholic moment for me – because it means we’re as far away as we can possibly be from summer come March 1. The good news for me is that my head is able to remain in my favourite season because we’re in the process of finalising SunnyLIFE’s summer 09/10 ranges.
Everything’s coming together nicely and the ranges are looking beautiful. I’m going to give you more information over the course of the next few months – the slow reveal will prove much more exciting. I can tell you that the look of the season was inspired by the summer culture of the 50’s & 60’s – as depicted in the photography of Slim Aarons… Not quite as exclusive, but just as relaxed.
I hope this almost ended summer has been a great one for you.
Yesterday – February the 5th, marked the official 5th birthday of SunnyLIFE. Given that there are always a million things going on in our office – it was entirely forgotten. So I offer a belated happy birthday to us.
I’ve often relayed the story that when we started the business – others who had done so before told me “you’ll know you’ve made it when you reach 3 years”. Upon reaching 3 years, I sought those sample people out and proudly announced the news only to hear “did I say 3, I meant 5”. Since then, the number 5 has been repeated as the commonly held benchmark, so I hope you’ll allow me to view this as a genuine milestone.
Without becoming too indulgent, I will say that it’s been an unbelievable 5 years – a wild ride. There has been an incredible amount of knowledge gained and innumerable experiences for which I am very grateful. I still get a major thrill when I see someone using a SunnyLIFE product in the “real world”.
Ultimately, what is most satisfying is that Paul and I are still being challenged and excited by the opportunities that come our way. We really do have a great team who we work with and are always meeting interesting new people. There are amazing things underway in the business for the coming year and beyond – which means that, just like day 1, the outlook is sunny!
Summer has truly kicked in - with SA & VIC feeling it’s full force! 35 degrees at 2.30am - can that be possible? Anyway - if you can, the beach is a great way to get some respite. Make sure you hydrate, apply sunscreen and have access to shade.
You read right, I want friends! Not real friends, that requires way too much effort - I want digital friends. Right now it’s all about connectivity, so connect with SunnyLIFE via our Facebook page. It’s an easy way for us to stay in touch and update you on all the SunnyLIFE happenings.
Happy 2009! Sorry for the delayed wishes but I’ve been on holiday (you know how it is).
I hope all of you got a chance to enjoy some time in the sunshine with your favourite people. That’s exactly what I did in Hawaii. What a place – beautiful beaches, friendly people, stunning tropic vistas and a very relaxed approach to life. Definitely my kind of destination.
Of course my holiday affirms my desire to spread the concept of a SunnyLIFE! With some of the negativity in the world at the moment I thought it might help tohighlight some of the positivity that exists when life is sunny.
So as a start to 2009, I’d like to offer some tips on how to enjoy the rest of your summer and make your life more sunny!
1.Next time you’re on a busy beach spend some time with your eyes closed – just listen to the ambient noise. In my opinion there is no better sound.
2.Go for a walk with someone special (friend, lover, pet?). Shoot the breeze and look around – it can be really calming.
3. Make a gigantic salad and share it around – the perfect summer meal.
4.Plan activities for your weekend that you’ll actually look forward to during the week.
5.Don’t check stock reports, check the forecast at your favourite beach. If the weather’s good – go there. Remember, the beach is free!
OK - I’m done being Oprah for today.
I’m back in the office today where I’ve started the delicate process of converting my post-holiday glow into product development for our new ranges. I promise there won’t be a grass skirt in our new collection!
I’d appreciate it if someone could tell me where the year went? It seems that 2008 has been the quickest year in my memory. Given that, we took some time to celebrate with the SunnyLIFE Xmas party last night. It really is lovely to have a chance to relax with the team and their partners and celebrate our accomplishments for the year. We’re a small team so our festivities tend to be relatively mild-mannered - however, many laughs were had together with a sensational meal (great choice Sarah).
On Tuesday night, Arthur Galan was named GQ’s Designer of the Year for 2008. Arthur’s been our favourite designer for ages - which is why we asked him to design a beach towel for us this year. The Arthur Galan AG for SunnyLIFE beach towel is in store now. Check it out here.
Featuring a chunky zip pocket for your latest magazine and luxe jacquard velour - this truly is a must have deisgner towel. For more about Arthur, or to check out the latest ranges and find a store visit Arthur Galan AG.
We know that SunnyLIFE products are good looking and exceedingly photogenic - so it’s great to see where the range keeps popping up. The latest ad for Mitsubishi’s Lancer stars the red floral tote. The 14 second mark of the clip is the money shot.
Let us know if you see a SunnyLIFE product in the media. If you want a brush with fame - head into any of our stockists and pick up a SunnyLIFE Tote!
